Like a true multitasker, the Blue Rooster CICH039 Casita Grill Cast Iron Chiminea provides you with warmth as you enjoy watching the moon and stars on your patio and also allows you to cook dinner at the same time.

The Casita departs from the traditional design of a chiminea as it has a square hearth. The firebox is cubic instead of spherical. It chimney tapers making it look like a truncated pyramid.

The chimney is decorated with a sunburst standing out against a backdrop of brick-like relief arranged in a running bond, while the opening into the fireplace is bordered with a line of the same brick relief. Above it is a pair of elaborate leaf designs. The chimney is topped with a decorative rain lid that is removable.

Made of solid cast iron, the chiminea is virtually impervious to rust. It is coated with a high-temperature paint colored charcoal, which helps conceal the effects of burning wood on the paint.

The opening to the chiminea is covered with a screen door to keep floating embers from floating out thus protecting you and your property from accidental burns. The door is hinged for easy opening when tending to the fire or checking the food cooking on the cast iron grille. It is made of stainless steel.

The grille is large enough to hold a 14- to 16-inch pizza. It also allows you to grill barbecues or hotdogs. To trap heat inside the hearth for a top and bottom heat source, a fiberglass lining is installed at its top. Beneath the grille is a grate for holding the burning logs.

The Blue Rooster CICH039 Casita Grill Cast Iron Chiminea stands on cast iron feet that are crafted to complement the design of the chiminea. Its height reaches up to 49 inches, width is 22 inches, and depth is 18. It weighs a hefty 230 pounds.

Chimineas are said to have been invented in Mexico hundreds if not thousands of years ago. Mexican tribes people used them for both heating and cooking. They were made of mud or river clay, and if they got broken, the people simply scooped more mud and made a new one. Clay chimineas from Mexico are still being made today. Among them is the Greenfingers DD7213D Cozumel Ojo Maya Clay Chiminea.

The Ojo Maya design consists of two large eyes flanking the opening of the chiminea. The opening, which is topped with an arch, is large enough to provide warmth as you gather around it, and to display the dancing flames within.

Perched on a three-legged steel stand, the chiminea rises up to approximately 30 inches. At its widest girth, it has a diameter of about 14 inches. The upper portion is detachable, at the point where the firebox begins to taper into the chimney. This converts the chiminea into a barbeque. Indeed, a chromed barbeque grill comes with the unit.

Inside the firebox is a steel grill for your charcoal or pieces of wood for burning. A clay lid for the chimney is also supplied. This helps regulate airflow into the firebox and thus control the burn rate.

The Greenfingers DD7213D Cozumel Ojo Maya Clay Chiminea can give your patio a rustic, even romantic, ambience as you roast your food and keep yourself warm the way it has been done for centuries. And because of its small size, it is easy to move around or even bring it along on you picnics or camp outs.

You can choose between two chiminea colors –green and yellow.

Keeping yourself warm with an open flame need not be hazardous if you have the right equipment. You will need to contain the floating embers, control the size of the flame, and keep the smoke out of your eyes. With the Nantucket ALZ510 Copper-Colored Chiminea, all these are a breeze. It also has the added bonus of exuding a classic appeal with its finish and décor.

It is perhaps the conical roof of the Nantucket chiminea that first catches your eye the first time you see it. It is finished in a shiny copper that reflects nearby objects on its surface. The cone does not have a very long axis so that its slope is gentle. Its apex, sometimes called the vertex, has been chopped off to provide an escape where smoke is vented. This opening, to prevent rainwater or snow from falling into the chiminea, is protected by a smaller cone, also finished with shiny copper, like a miniature umbrella.

The cone is supported by four wide flat metal bars that first slant inward before scrolling outward at their feet, giving the chiminea a decorative value as well as a stable stand. Fastened to the bars just underneath the cone are four sets of convex steel wire mesh held by a steel frame enveloping the entire chiminea. These keep the embers and sparks from the burning wood inside, while at the same time keeping out the inquisitive hands of children and pets. One of these framed mesh screens can be opened for tending the fire.

A steel firebowl with a diameter of almost 23 inches is perched on thick metal pegs protruding from each of the four steel feet. A ring with the color of copper having intricate designs adds detail to the rim of the bowl.

Apart from the copper-finished cone top and decorative trim, all other components of the Nantucket ALZ510 Copper-Colored Chiminea are painted in black, with the contrast between to two colors giving the chiminea an appealing look.

The chiminea stands 34¼ inches tall with a width and depth of 35½ inches.

Looking like a tall pyramid but with steeper sides than the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Frontgate 43990 Handcrafted Copper Chiminea is definitely an interesting piece of appliance to install on the patio or in the garden.

The Frontgate chiminea, like a pyramid, has a polygonal base and four triangular sides whose tops meet at the top. Unlike a true pyramid, however, it is not solid. It is hollow inside and in fact has a lower section that is completely open except for the four posts that support the upper section. The topmost part is also separated from the main body, joined to it only by four posts. The lower opening is where the fire burns, while the upper allows the escape of smoke from the fire below, thus keeping it away from you.

Because the chiminea is tall, airflow is increased which results in a more robust fire. This, in turn, leads to more warmth, not to mention the huge and fascinating flickering flame.

The chiminea is made of durable steel that is wrapped with copper giving it its reddish brown appearance. Over time, the copper is expected to develop an attractive brown or green patina giving it both character and protection from corrosion.

A durable steel grate is installed within the pyramid to hold standard sized logs for burning. Since the chiminea is open on all sides, you and your friends can sit around it for warmth. You can stay out on your patio even on cold autumn and winter nights to enjoy the nippy air and starry skies. You can also toast marshmallows for your s’mores, or roast hotdogs in the fire, without having to elbow each other as you approach the fire.

Ashes from the burned logs fall into a drawer beneath the grate. On the morning after, you can easily pull the drawer out for emptying.

The Frontgate 43990 Handcrafted Copper Chiminea towers up to almost seven feet. Its base is approximately 25 inches square, which tapers until the four triangular sides meet in a single point at the top of the pyramid.

Combining the best features of a chiminea and a fire pit, the Round Iron Model DS-2937B Chiminea Fire Pit allows you to stay out in your patio or backyard into late fall or even on mild winter evenings when you can enjoy watching the full moon or the bright stars without getting chilled to your bones.

The Round Iron Chiminea consists of a dome whose top tapers into a short chimney. The opening at the top, where smoke from the fire escapes, is protected from the rain with a top cover that is a few inches above the chimney’s rim. At the lower end of the chiminea is a bowl, about 26 inches in diameter, where the wood fuel is fed. It includes a grate which can be used to hold the firewood. To help you rearrange burning wood, a poker is included.

In between the dome and the bowl is a round space that is enclosed with a screen propped with a sturdy metal frame. A large door equipped with an opening handle provides access to the interior of the chiminea. Owing to the large opening, loading of fairly large wood is made easy. The screen enclosure has the same diameter as the bowl.

It is through the screen that heat from the burning wood is emitted outside, while at the same time protecting you from sparks and embers that often fly from the fire. In contrast to regular chimineas whose openings are only at the front end, the Round Iron chiminea is open on all sides, the full 360°. With this, the chiminea can heat the surrounding 15 square feet.

The dome and bowl have a copper finish that gives them a subdued shine and an understated elegance. This contrasts with the black finish of the screen and its frame.

The Round Iron Model DS-2937B Chiminea Fire Pit is supported by a metal stand with three legs in a wrought iron design, lending a classic look to it. From the feet to the top of the chimney, it reaches a height of 40 inches.

Medium-sized and lightweight at approximately 68 pounds, the Blue rooster ALCH009 Garden Chiminea can be easily rearranged around your patio or garden. You can even bring it to the lake or campsite to keep you warm and cozy on your outdoor adventures. In fact, it is fitted with carry handles to help you with this.

The chiminea is cone-shaped with a large opening at the bottom, which is bordered with classic Greek design decorations. Two roses stand on their stems on each side of the opening, with one far taller than the other. A small hummingbird hovers over the tall rose as if savoring its sweet smell.

With these design and decor, it makes a great addition to your patio or garden. It is available in gold accent, antique green, and charcoal. Blue Rooster, however, recommends charcoal because it is more resistant to heat and thus more long lasting that either the gold or green paint.

With a main body that is constructed out of thick cast aluminum, the ALCH009 is both lightweight and sturdy. The bottom grate that supports the fire, however, is made of cast iron as it is more durable than aluminum.

Apart from being a source of heat, the chiminea can also be used for cooking, grilling, and baking. Indeed, it can cook great pizza and even bake bread. This means that if you bring it along when camping, you can continue to enjoy freshly cooked pizza or baked bread. For this, it is equipped with a cast iron grill insert. Just remember to put the removable top on if you want to use it as an oven.

To protect you from sparks and embers flying out from the chiminea, a hinged spark screen covers its wide mouth. This is removable to get it out of the way when the chiminea is used for cooking.

The Blue Rooster ALCH009 Garden Chiminea can either be fuelled with wood, propane, or natural gas. It stands 44 inches and is 22 inches at its widest section.

Chimineas were born arguably thousands of years ago in Mexico as outdoor open fire heaters made totally of clay. They are still in use today, although no longer just in their country of birth, but in most temperate zone countries. In these places, the chiminea was altered and modified that most no longer resemble the original. They are no longer made of clay and they no longer have that signature bulge at the bottom where the hearth is and the tall smokestack. One of these modified chimineas is the Pagoda Chiminea CSI037 Fireplace that, as the name implies, incorporates elements of Chinese architecture.

The Pagoda rests on a large square base constructed out of steel. It has an arched toe-kick though this is more for aesthetics rather to allow you to get close to the chiminea. Four posts rise from the four corners of the base, slanting towards the center making it look like an Egyptian pyramid. The top, however, is truncated. Instead of a pointed apex, two square roofs cover the top. The upper roof is actually much smaller and is more decorative than functional, but it is the reason for the name “Pagoda”. The center of the real and bigger roof is elevated, thus its four sides all slant in different directions. These are made of polished copper, which, over time, will acquire a beautiful patina.

Beneath the roof, on all sides, are durable steel mesh walls that keep embers and ashes from floating out of the chiminea. They do not, however, obstruct your view of the flickering flames, and, perhaps more important, the warmth from the fire. On one side is a door that is hinged at the bottom. This allows you to rearrange the burning logs for a better burn, and to clean the chiminea after use. A heavy-duty steel grate is built into the hearth. All steel components are powder coated with black dry enamel, thus they are protected from rust.

The base of the Pagoda Chiminea CSI037 Fireplace is approximately 2 sq. ft., and it stands 24 inches high.

Featuring an antique bronze finish with basket weave patterns adorning its flue and legs, the Deeco CD DM6035J-AA Western Basket Weave Jr Chiminea makes an attractive ornament on your patio or backyard. It does more than just look good, though. It delivers enough heat to allow you to stay outdoors even on cold wintry nights as you gaze at the stars and enjoy moonlit nightscapes.

It is called a Junior Chiminea because of its compact design. At the widest section of the bulbous fire bowl, it is only 17.5 inches in diameter. It stands roughly 3 ½ feet tall, and weighs a mere 47 pounds. It is lightweight because of its cast aluminum construction. This means that you can easily move it anywhere on the patio or backyard with the handles hanging on the sides of the fire bowl. It also means that it is the ideal fireplace for confined spaces. Although it is light, it is durable and can be expected to withstand exposure to the sun, rain, and snow.

The large round opening of the fire bowl is shielded with a safety screen door to keep embers and cinders from floating and flying out without shutting in the heat. The door is hinged and can be easily opened to add wood or to poke those already inside with the poker that is supplied. The top of the flue also comes with a cover to keep the rain, snow, or debris from falling into the fire bowl while it is not in use.

The chiminea can be transformed into a grill by simply removing the flue. A framework of metal bars comes with the fire bowl where you can cook steaks, chicken, fish, or hamburgers on your barbecues with your family and friends. The kids can also roast marshmallows for their s’mores.

The Mexicans introduced chimineas to the world. Mexican tribesmen from forgotten ages developed the chiminea for cooking and heat. It was designed to keep rain off the fire and it was built from a resource that was readily available –clay.

Today, chimineas are built of materials other than clay including cast iron and aluminum. Admittedly, these are sturdier than clay, but there are methods of improving the latter’s strength. Among them is the seasoning of the chiminea, application of sealant to the outside and acrylic floor finish inside the firebox. If you live in colder regions, it is advisable to keep it in your garage during winter.

If you are sufficiently attracted to the old world charm of clay chimineas enough to go through the trouble of taking extra care of them, have a look at the Garden Treasures Model No. 092 Clay Chiminea.

Model No. 092 is in the old Mexican design of a bulbous firebox with a large opening for your firewood. A slender neck stretches from the top of the firebox functioning as a chimney. Smoke from the fire is thus vented at a higher level. At the same time, it also facilitates airflow for a more efficient burn.

Both the firebox and the chimney are decorated with a relief of diamonds wrapping their entire circumference. Such decoration is reminiscent of a waffle. Its colors of browns and tans reinforce the image. The chiminea is cradled on a metal stand with four legs that curve upward in a wrought iron design.

The clay chiminea stands 37 inches while its firebox has a diameter of 21 inches. With the large opening of the firebox, it can heat an area of 20 square feet.

Combining form and function, the FirePits.Com ALZ110 4-Foot Steel Smokestack Chiminea is an attractive and appealing addition to your patio or garden, which also efficiently delivers heat and provides a full view of the flickering flames.

The chiminea stands on four sturdy cast iron legs supporting the 20-inch length and 25-inch width of the hearth. The hearth is surrounded by a wire mesh held by a strong metal frame. A large door, also of framed wire mesh, provides access to the interior of the chiminea where a cooking grid can be can be slid in.

The hearth is made of copper, which means that it resists corrosion and has an excellent heat conductivity. Below it is an ash drawer making cleaning and disposal convenient. The wire mesh extends from the hearth to the lower section of the dome leading to the chimney, cut in a half-circle. This extended opening, however, is only on the front and sides of the chiminea.

The chimney is large enough to control exhaust. To keep the rain from pouring into the hearth, a cap is attached to its top by two slender yet sturdy posts. Both the dome and the chimney are made of steel and are colored in black.

The design of the FirePits.Com ALZ110 4-Foot Steel Smokestack Chiminea means that the fire inside is radiated and is visible on all sides. You and your friends can sit around it without leaving anybody out in the cold. With its large door and slide-out cooking grid, you can broil barbecues or roast marshmallows with its wood fuel.

The chiminea, including its chimney, reaches up to 48 inches high. It weighs 43 pounds, making it easy to move around your backyard garden. It even comes with a black waterproof PVC cover.
