Constructed from an aluminum alloy that is impervious to rust, it requires minimum maintenance. The outer finish is designed to withstand the elements. Notwithstanding this, a year-round cover is included with the unit for additional protection. For the finish, you have a choice among charcoal, gold accent, and antique green.

The bottom half of the chiminea looks like a giant cup with two handles. This includes the solid base and the fire chamber. The huge opening of this chamber presents a very wide view of the roaring flames inside. Partly to protect overly inquisitive children who might attempt to reach into the flames, and partly to keep embers and ashes from floating out, the opening is covered with a hinged screen door.

A cast iron grilling and baking insert for your barbecues and roasts is included with the chiminea. Also, a grate made of the same material is likewise included to support the fire logs.

The Blue Rooster ALCH026GK Venetian Chiminea can be used to burn logs if you like to listen to crackling fires and you like the romance of traditional fireplaces. It can, however, be converted to burn gas if you wish for a more convenient burning. Seven ceramic logs come with the conversion so you will still have the look of a log-burning chiminea. For those times that you feel nostalgia for the traditional fireplace, you can always remove the gas burners and burn real wood again.

The upper half of the chiminea is the chimney. At its neck is a spark arrestor keeping the surrounding area, including your house, safe from accidental burning.
